Ord River Barramundi Dreamtime
I led and creatively directed a limited cel-animation sequence supporting the oral telling of the Dreamtime story of the Ord River Barramundi, as shared by the Miriwoong and Gija people. Created for a documentary directed and produced by Nathan Dyer, the animation was designed to visually accompany the spoken narrative while remaining subtle.
I developed storyboard panels, created an animatic, and set up a production timeline to support a 2- minute video, but this was later reduced to a 20-second animation.
The final sequences were composited over letterboxed live-action footage, requiring attention to composition, framing, and negative space.
The conceptual styles and representations developed were approved by the consulted Miriwoong and Gija elders.
The following are the animatic and storyboards for the 2 minute animation (with sound).
